Canonical, the company behind the Ubuntu Linux distribution has announced that it is stopping the development of Unity8 desktop, and will be bringing back the GNOME desktop for Ubuntu.

And, Canonical had decided to end its investment in the phone business. Instead, Canonical is going to focus on the cloud and IoT.

The most of the public and private clouds run on Linux, and many of them use Ubuntu .

Mark Shuttleworth, Founder of Ubuntu and Canonical mentioned in his blog post as ” What the Unity8 team has delivered so far is beautiful, usable and solid, but I respect that markets, and community, ultimately decide which products grow and which disappear.”
