Monday, April 28 – Egypt judge sentences 683 Islamists, including Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie, to death. They are supporters of ousted Egypt President Mohamed Morsi.
They are accused of violence last year in Minya. Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie is charged with crimes including inciting violence that followed the army’s overthrow of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last July.
The same court also reversed 492 death sentences out of 529 it passed in March, commuting most of the death sentences to life in prison.
In February, Egyptian court sentenced 26 people to death for plotting Suez Canal attack.
