McAfee, the Internet anti-virus firm that is owned by Intel has acquired Finland’s Stonesoft Oyj a leading innovator in next-generation network firewall products for $389M Million in Cash.
“The combination of the two companies allows Stonesoft to benefit from McAfee’s global presence and sales organization of over 2,200 employees, best-in-class threat research and technology synergies” said Ilkka Hiidenheimo, Chief Executive Officer of Stonesoft. “Combined, we believe we can offer our customers a world-class product portfolio with world-class support all backed by Intel.”
McAfee president Michael DeCesare said that,” the company plans to combine Stonesoft’s offerings with its other products to realise the power of its Security Connected strategy”.
In 2011, Intel acquired McAfee. With the acquisition, the security services provider, McAfee expects to strengthen its position in network security.
